Tap Tap Revenge 3 Frequently Asked Questions
Game Basics
Welcome to Tap Tap Revenge 3! The goal of the game is to tap the balls and shake the arrows to the beat of the music as they reach the targets at the bottom of the screen. The longer you can keep your streak, the higher you will score.
I am having trouble downloading tracks or playing online.
- Turn off bluetooth under Settings > General > Bluetooth
- Plug your iPhone or iPod touch into the wall
- iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 users: turn off WIFI and download using your 3G network connection
- If a bundle doesn’t begin downloading – go to options, then “restore purchased tracks.” If that doesn’t work and you see you were charged, tap over to ZenDesk and submit a support request with your username and the tracks you were trying to download- we’ll make sure you get them.
How do I log out of my device?
You can log off of an account by tapping your avatar on the home screen, then going to edit profile>advanced settings>log out.
I got a new device… How do I log into my old account?
You can log in to an existing profile by entering your username on the box of the opening screen of TTR3. Text will appear that says “Taken. Tap here if you are
I got a new device and now my tracks won’t play. What’s going on?
Each track is encoded to the device it’s downloaded on- so the track files you restored will only play on your old device. You’ll have to delete and redownload them. You can get purchased content by going to options>restore purchased tracks. The free stuff you’ll have to get from the tap track store. You can download a bunch at a time by going to the tap track store, then browse>music channels, then into each channel and hit “Download available tracks from this label.”
My avatar has the wrong gender/skin tone/eye color. How do I change it?
Email support@tapulous.com with your username and ask for your avatar to be reset. Once we do it, you’ll be prompted to pick a new base avatar when you sign in. Don’t worry- all your avatar gear will still be in the avatar editor.
Can I change my username?
If you created an account that looks like “tapper######,” you can choose a new, personalized username ONLY ONCE. You can do so by tapping your avatar on the home screen, then tapping “edit profile,” then choosing your new username! Remember you can only use letters, numbers, and underscores. If you have a username that doesn’t begin with tapper, you cannot change your username- so be careful what you choose!
I try to log in, but it says that my email is not associated with my username. What can I do?
Sometimes emails have typos or, if your account is old enough, there may not be an email associated with it at all. Email us at support@tapulous.com with your username and we will look into it for you.
I bought a premium track pack but don’t see the songs in my song list…
For whatever reason, it must not have downloaded. You can always redownload all of your purchased tracks by going to options>restore purchased tracks (if you’re connected to the internet, of course).
I cannot purchase tracks! It says this is not a Test-User account?
This is currently unconfirmed, but it seems like you cannot purchase tracks on jailbroken devices. For now the only solution is to restore your device to an un-jailbroken state.
I downloaded a track with a custom theme, and when the track starts I get a black screen. Now what?
This may happen if there’s an unexpected event during the download. To solve the problem, swipe the track in your track listing, to delete it. Then, restart Tap Tap Revenge 3 and download the track again (you will not need to purchase it again).
Can I import premium content from games like Lady Gaga Revenge, Coldplay Revenge etc, into Tap Tap Revenge 3?
You can now import your premium content from Lady Gaga Revenge and Tap Tap Coldplay! Navigate to the Tap Tap Store > Games to download them now. We’re working to bring you your other favorites ASAP.
What can I do with the coins I earn?
Right now, you can use coins to purchase avatar items. Most of those are decorative, but there are special “instruments” (that cost a lot) that give you extra power when you play online. We’re just getting started – in the future you’ll be able to do even more with your Tapulous coins.
How can I get a higher score?
There’s more than one way to hit a ball correctly. If you miss the ball entirely, you’ll get knocked off your streak. If you hit it, but just barely, you’ll maintain your streak but won’t get any points. You can also get 50, 75, or 150 points for a perfect hit. Watch the feedback as you tap: in the default theme, you can see feedback on your accuracy in the upper-right corner of your display AND you will get color feedback near the tap targets (green means you nailed it). Most of the custom themes don’t offer color feedback near the tap targets. Make sure you’re always tapping and shaking to the beat!
Make sure your device is performing at its best (see below – battery charged, restart your device from time to time, make sure you’re not getting incoming calls and a lot of network activity). You won’t get near the top-100 if you miss even one ball and aren’t in Revenge Mode. And make sure you’re on the latest and greatest version of Tap Tap Revenge. Tap Tap Revenge 2.5 includes very clear color feedback (orange / blue / green) to let you know how precise each of your taps was, thus helping you improve your gameplay.
How come I get 100% accuracy and people still beat my score?
See the previous question. Keep practicing!
Tap Tap Revenge feels slow or crashes. What can I do?
We are constantly working on improving the game, so make sure to check for updates. There are a few things that can help improve performance:
- Restart your device. Press and hold the button at the top of your iPhone or iPod touch until the red slider appears, prompting you to turn the power off.
- Go easy on network activity. Under Settings, turn off Wi-Fi. For Fetch New Data, select “Manually” instead of Push or automatic fetching.
- Make sure your battery is fully charged. As your battery gets lower, performance gets worse.
- Make sure you’re not using a Jailbroken device. Jailbreaking impacts performance.
- Make sure your device is performing well. As you fill up your device with music, videos and apps, it may get slower. Restoring your device may improve things. If you’re trying to get the best-performing device, consider getting one of the newer iPod touches – Tap Tap Revenge screeeaaams on those!
What do the arrows mean?
As the arrows cross the target zone at the bottom of the screen, shake your device left, right, or forward in the way that you would hit a drum stick. If you don’t enjoy this feature, you can turn off the arrows in the Options menu.
I’m having trouble getting the arrows, what’s the right way to do it?
It’s all about technique. One of the Tap Tap pro’s made a video describing his way to do it. Thanks Krohn7master!
What are those trails behind some of the taps?
A trail behind a tap is for Tap & Hold. Just hold the tap until the trail ends.
How can I download songs from my computer?
You can download more than 150 free songs into Tap Tap Revenge 2. To do so, make sure your iPod touch or iPhone has a network connection (Wi-Fi, Edge or 3G), then boot up the game and click on the Downloads button. Make sure to check back frequently: every week we add more free music.
When you have finished playing a song, you will see a link to purchase the MP3 version of that song on iTunes. If you buy the MP3, you’ll be able to listen to those songs on your PC or portable music player.
You cannot upload songs from your music library to Tap Tap Revenge.
How do I delete songs to free up space on my device?
To delete an individual song, swipe your finger across the song name while in single player mode. You can delete all downloaded tracks through the options menu.
What is the difference between Tap Tap Revenge, Tap Tap Revenge 2, and Tap Tap Revenge 3?
Tap Tap Revenge 3 is faster, more fun, more social, and you can now purchased over 100 premium tracks by mega-artists! Most users should upgrade to Tap Tap Revenge 3. If you ever feel nostalgic, launch Tap Tap Revenge and tap to the classics.
