14 years ago, Smashing Pumpkins’ lead singer Billy Corgan sang this simple observation. The year was 1995, and vampires were not a hot topic; the only ones we had were Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. Corgan’s was a bold, visionary statement, and today we are awash with vampires. You literally cannot go out for a latte without bumping into at least 4 vampires.
What other eternal truths can we draw from the teachings of Smashing Pumpkins? This is a band who sold more than 20 million albums over a 20-year career, and who rock so hard the earth trembles, so clearly they know of what they speak:
- You can never overdub too many electric guitars, as evidenced in the song “Today.” That first big hit will knock your teeth out.
- You can never break up and re-form too many times. You can also endlessly kick out and rehire band members. Especially when every note on every album was performed by Billy anyway. (Allegedly)
- If the first time you hear the band, you’re not sure if the lead singer is a dude or a chick, that’s a good thing. Ask the Silversun Pickups. Actually, ask them all about Smashing Pumpkins.
- Pick a chord, and declare ownership. A G# octave chord at the eleventh fret with the low E string played over it? That’s the “Pumpkin Chord.” Check out “Cherub Rock,” and everything after that.
Basically, Smashing Pumpkins did it the right way: Heavier, Bigger, and Balder. When the history of Alternative Rock is written, they will have their own chapter. This week we pay tribute to their lasting legacy with the free feature track “Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” and breathlessly await the new music, which will be released free on smashingpumpkins.com.

Ok here’s what I think about this week’s track. Number one, if I wanted to play it I would have bought the Smashing Pumpkins Track Pack! I would have rather had an indie track then get something I never wanted to get. For this I deleted this track after I got 1/4 of the way through. Again indie tracks cost little to get compared to these so I would have passed this up for a radically new and diffrent indie band no one has ever heard about! Oh and I didn’t like the track because it delt with vampires; I HATE TWILIGHT! Ok now I’m done ranting!

I don’t like it because it’s way too easy. If it was alot harder I’d love it. It feels that recently tapulous is pushing us to buy more of their tracks. I can’t even get the afi track pack. They charged me 0.99$ and I never got the tracks and it was not under my purchased tracks. Same with the app price. They told us it cost 0.99 because of The in app store. But then how come a bunch of apps are offering this in app store, and there apps are free! So I think tapulous needs to think about there marketing ideas befor they lose all there fans.

But… You cannot win anything. If you wanna have a chance to won, you have to buy the track pack for getting the expert difficulty of the same track, and bu that way be able to get a high score than the ones that just have the free and médium dificulty. Am I wrong?

installous is no longer available in cydia just so you know. The developers of it shut down so I’m surprised you can still download games. People like you are why Apple wants to bann jailbreaking and it hurts efforts like those of the EFF to legalize it! I recomend deleteing the app and buying them from now on.

Most Pop stars are going back to writeing their own stuff but all the hip/hop and rappers are starting to not write their own stuff. Most artists Tapulous has write their own stuff. And Weird Al writes his own stuff actually ALL of his stuff he wrote the lyrics for. I WANT WEIRD AL IN TTR3!!!

whenever a person opens the “installous app”
on thier I-DEVICE.. it comes up with a “troll bridge / question ”
that requires an answer.
the app was on there when it first came out.
i dont exactly know if it is still on there at the moment.
- how do you know it shutdown? – i just stopped using the app for a while.

update it to 2.0.4
- and search the IPA files through google from your i-device.
it will work just the same as installous, (except.. u can press home and the download will still continue ( but when u do this in installous.. it simply just stops)
to ban jailbreaking itll take so much.
the thing is, each and everyday people jailbreak thier devices.
and if apple can make an “I-DEVICE KILLSWITCH”
which AUTO-ALERTS them that the device has been tamperd with “jailbroken”
then it wil make the device lock, and they must RESTORE IT.
i dont support jailbreaking.

but what im trying to say is that, we need more of those

last week was fine, this week was definatley a song that not everybody loved. ( everybody has thier own opinion for it)
weird al yankovic creates his own music lyrics,
yes he may use other beats, but his lyrics are unique.
alot of the hip-hop scene sounds the same.
its hard to find a new sound now-a-days, depending on the genre of music.

I purchased the Smashing Pumpkins track pack a while ago. I’m not really upset that I had to pay for this week’s free track, but rather that i’m not getting anything new. I eagerly await every Thursday because I expect a new track… something I haven’t played before….. I was more understanding with the Foo Fighters TTT, but when you guys do this it means I don’t get a new tap track for 2 weeks….. and that’s assuming you don’t hand out another paid track next week.
@ Tapulous I’m not one to whine, and i’m not, but I’d like to ask: When are we going to be getting some more songs to purchase? I’d love to burn some cash on some new tracks……… Don’t let it get in the way of getting RR on the App Store though, or the fake me might go ballistic.
Also @Tapulous Nice work on the Metallica Revenge update!
To you guys above me: Using any cracked ipa installer is morally wrong….. I only install cracked apps to sample them before purchasing them (If they don’t already have a lite version) ….. with the only exception being any Tapulous app…….They are so awesome they don’t need to be demoed.
Also….. Indeed Hackulous has (to my knowledge) stopped developing Installous, but the actual main dev, Puy0, released a much better installer (kind of like a major update to Installous) called Install0us. Also, Appulous is simply the repo for cracked apps, and can be accessed from any web browser.
The fake me is so freaking annoying…… What a freaking n00b…. I swear…… He just has problems…….

Track: Phoning it in again, are we? I find this song ironic, for I have recently jailbroken. And I’m very content with the result.
Theme: Sure is blue.
Taps: all good except for that one pause about 75% in that for some reason I tap expecting it to be there.
Contest: Though I do have a handicap due to desynch, I also have the advantage of knowing the tapfile before most everyone else. And I promise not to exploit on it. If I can overcome the desynch to place I’ll be esctatic.

I really don’t like Installing cracked apps at all. For some reason, whether it be a cracked ipa or any pirated anything, I just can’t use something illegally obtained for more than a few minutes. Cracked apps are especially good for checking for problems before actually purchasing an app. For instance, I had heard that on jailbroken iDevices Super Monkey Ball 2 would not start up without using Swapmode. Sure enough, it was true, and until I learn it’s been fixed I won’t buy it from the app store, but I will also be deleting the cracked version from my iPhone.
Also, Installous used unstable workarounds to be able to install cracked apps without installing Appsync or patching the mobileinstallation file. Install0us has done away with these workarounds and requires you to install Appsync or patch the mobileinstallation file with installd, thus decreasing the stability of your device, and increasing the possibility of bricking/full on crash and you’d have to restore.
I took the leap and installed Appsync, as the iPhone 3GS is not yet supported for the installd patch, which is the much safer alternative to Appsync.
I’ve also heard that the in-app purchasing problems on jailbroken phones are due to Appsync, but I am unable to confirm this as I have not attempted to make any in-app purchases since my installing it……..
Ultimately, you risk a lot using Install0us…… And too many of its users use it as an alternative to the App Store, and it’s not. Developers work hard to make their apps, and they deserve the money. Not only that, but without the money said developer could not continue developing apps….. So please people…. pay for your apps……

@Trekluver As i’ve said before, I don’t support permanently using illegally obtained apps. I’m not saying you would, but I don’t want to just put exactly what you need to do up here on the blog for everyone to see. The information you need is at the install0us website, right in front of you. You will, however, by some method need to replace or patch the mobileinstallation file. I’d find out how to back it up first though if your going to go ahead. You can find out how to copy it from your iDevice by searching Google.
Anyway, back to TTR…. I’ve got my 8 year old sister playing TTR and she freakin loves it. I heard her playing this weeks track when i walked by her room today. *sniffle* I’m so proud *sniffle*.

That’s great! I just didn’t like this weeks track because if I wanted to play it I would have bought it. I would have rather settled for an indie track! Anyway I understand why you don’t want to put that up, I don’t support it because it’s wrong to steal but I thought it would be cool to figure out how to do it.
