Tap Tap Revenge 3 launched yesterday… with quite a bang! The game got a ton of buzz and press coverage, and just hit #1 on the App Store here in the US.
Since the game is already celebrating its one-day birthday (time flies when you’re having fun), we wanted to give a quick update on what’s great, and what we’re working on:
- Make sure to try out Quick Play, the awesome bombs and other weapons in Online Play, and Battle your friends! There are a TON of cool new features in Tap Tap Revenge 3, and we’ll put up a post with some of our favorites later today

- We are giving away over 100 prizes, and 3 grand prizes (a free download of every single premium content pack) – http://bit.ly/ttr3launch
Our crew has been working hard these last 24 hours, listening to your feedback. Here are some of the things we’ve already tweaked:
- Some users had a hard time finding the free tracks, so we’ve made them easier to find
- You’ve asked to allow you to download free tracks in bulk, and we’ve added that
- After you purchase a premium bundle, it now automatically downloads
- We’ve improved performance in the chat rooms
- We’ve resolved many of the issues people encountered related to corrupted track downloads
- Those of you who’ve been racking up points in Tap Tap Revenge 2 are getting TTR3 coins. To activate them, look for the message in your feed (at the top of the screen), then click on the link to claim your coins.
Other things you are reporting:
- You want to import your premium content from the special editions of Tap Tap Revenge, and,
within the next 24 hours, you will be able towe are delighted to announce that you can now import Lady Gaga Revenge and Tap Tap Coldplay premium tracks into Tap Tap Revenge 3. We’ll need a bit more time to get to the other premium games - Facebook Connect: it’s broken. Sorry! We can’t fix that without putting out a new version of the game, so this will take a bit longer
- Slow downloads and web pages: We are optimizing our servers over the next day or two, which should help at least somewhat. In future versions of the game, we will make more improvements in the app itself. Meanwhile, here are three things you can do that help a lot: (1) turn off Bluetooth, (2) plug your device into a power source, (3) if you’re on an iPhone with a 3G connection, turn off WiFi. UPDATE: We think our servers are much happier now (5pm PST Thu).
- You want to be able to reset your avatars, change skin colors and expressions. Give us a week or two and you’ll be able to do just that!
- A couple of the achievements, especially higher ones, are not working right for everyone. This should get fixed today. FIXED we think.
- A few people are still experiencing weird problems purchasing and downloading tracks. We’re continuing to work on these issues. Check our FAQ and Get Satisfaction forums for the types of problems folks are seeing, and how you can help us resolve them.
Of course, the main thing we have been getting a lot of questions about is why the game is no longer free, why we are selling music, and if we can get more free music into the game. Here’s the deal:
- Getting more and better music has always been our main priority, and will continue to be our top priority. To offer you the best selection of music, we have decided to offer affordably priced music by top artists, using the in-app purchasing capabilities in the new iPhone OS. In-app commerce is only available in paid apps, and that’s why Tap Tap Revenge 3 is a 99c game. The lowest price we can set for in-app commerce is 99c, so that is why we offer 2 tracks for 99c
- Please remember that the awesome catalog of free music that we have in Tap Tap Revenge 2 didn’t appear there on launch day; it took a while to accumulate all those great tracks, week after week. The good news is, Tap Tap Revenge 2 launched in March, and by October was filled to busting with music you think rocks. Watch for great tracks to be added to Tap Tap Revenge 3 every week too, along with cool custom themes, for free!

I am lvl 11 and I played 2 songs with a streak about 500.
But I don’t get an archievement and it won’t entry me to the contest.

Just wondering… what are the possibilities of adding a search bar to the “Song Select” menu? If I have all 130 free songs… It might be a bit of a struggle to find the exact one I want. (Although the A-Z sidebar thing is good too..)

Just downloaded TTR3 yesterday and I like the changes. Sometimes when I play though, it doesn’t recognize that I hit the button when I did that. Is there something that I am doing wrong??? If I still play TTR2 and get points, when I transfer over to TTR3, will I get credit for them, even though I have already transfered credits over to TTR3? Oh, in TTR3 there is a bomb for a weapon… do I want to hit that or let it go though?
Over all, the game is outstanding! I have been a fan of TTR1 and TTR2 since December. It was my first game that I installed when I got my phone.

Well i love the game been playing ever since Tap Tap Revolution off installer App, and im still love every second of it.
You done a great hob with TTR3 looks amazing and for a 1 day to make it to number one well that explains what a great app it really is.

Love the new game and all the 90s music that was put was a blast. Gettin ready to play Weezer’s “Buddy Holly” on hard. Glad the problem with the purchasing got fixed cause that put me in a pickle, but definitely a great uprgrade to an already awesome game.

Same here. I cant win Streaker III. I tryed online extreme and other difficulties and leveled up to 10 and still won’t be entered in to the contest. How or when will it be resolved? I want to be in the contest and it hasn’t notified me when I got the achivment.

Darn!!! I had already bought the coldplay song pack becausei didn’t think we’d get imports again
.also…. TTR3 came out Tuesday…. Not yesterday…… Great game though….. Keep it up…. Also we neeeeed to be able to are how many points we have (not coins). Right now we only see level and points to next level and that’s pointless.

Please please change the position of the weapon/shield actovator and the 16x activator to just below the Tap Acc bar! And maybe make the option to reposition those activators for those who want it at even another position.

I completed the Streaker III achievement as i am at level 10 and got a 549 streak…why am i not listed as getting that achievement done on the contest website? Tapulous employee help?

@alex we’re thinking about that for an upcoming update.
@bikerpoo the only time we are aware of possibly missing taps is when the battery is really low. Try plugging into a power source and playing.
@bikerpoo the TTR2 point transfering is a one-time thing.
@bikerpoo in Online mode, when you see the gold tappers, you want to tap those. Don’t tap the bombs that come down the track, or they will blow up on you.

Hey guys. I have alot to say about TTR 3, but I’ll try to summarize:
I don’t like the avatar idea, reminds me of Webkinz and Postopia
I’m not getting the Tap Tap subscriber award
it’s great that you guys fixed so many things so fast.
even the offline gaming can be surprisingly laggy,(background graphics, notes, points) especially near the end of a song
I’m fine with the paid app and paid songs, but I wish we could buy individual songs though.
If we can’t get free TTR2 songs in TTR 3, we should be able to get coins for playing in TTR2
I like and dislike the 16X and battle stars
I liked it better when the tap circle was a different color depending on accuracy
I like quick play and the progress bar alot.
The 16X part of the multiplyer bar shouldn’t show in online matches when you can’t have 16X
um, I think that’s about it, but I’ll let you know if I think of more

I really like quick play, it is an awesome way to find out how all the 130 free indie tracks sound and play without having to select and play the full song yourself. Perhaps you could create Tap Track Playlists that enable the end user to setup 5 songs that he can play in a row, non-stop with no breaks between them?
Also, I am kinda disappointed that I bought the Morgan Page tracks only to find that the difficulty on extreme wasn’t even close to the old TTR2 tap track. it was more like mediumish.
Loving it all so far Tapulous! ^^ Thanks for your awesomely creative work! It provides another method to procrastinate on stuff for me.

Great post, good to know exactly what’s going on, and thanks for a great game. But to the topic of the post, my list of bugs and wishes:
Wishes:
* I want to be able to see which songs I have achieved a full combo/perfect performance on, preferably on the song selection screen. The only way to do that right now is to scroll through the news.
* I want to be able to buy individual songs, there are some packs where I only like one or two songs, don’t want to spend a bunch of money on songs I’ll never play… I know you cannot charge less than 99c, but please let me select *any* two songs I want for that price.
* When I level up I see the text “X achievements unlocked” (or something to that effect), it would be great to be able to see which achievements they are.
* Sort the list of achievements so they are in the same order every time. Either alphabetically or by difficulty.
Bugs found:
* Some achievements names and descriptions are missing.
* When I got to level 14 it said 4 new achievements were unlocked, no new achievements could be seen in the list however. Perhaps this a case of a level 2 achievement being unlocked when I haven’t finished level 1?
* News section doesn’t update until you restart the game.
* When I achieved a full combo on ‘hella good’ by no doubt I didn’t get a message saying so, and I am pretty sure I didn’t get my 1500 coins. Next time I started the game there was a news item saying I had gotten a full combo though (still no coins).
* As has already been reported, some weirdness going on with the avatars, you get items you haven’t bought, including female clothes for male avatars.
* Slowdown at the end of some tracks.
Again, it may sound like I’m complaining, but I think the game is great and I hope my bug reports will be useful
Oh, and I hope I will see Flyleaf in TTR3 soon, even if it is just the song from TTR2 and I have to pay for it. And some Dream Theater, get one of their 10+min songs, Octavarium perhaps

First off, the game is awesome…worth every 99 pennies
I love the new user interface and the new default theme!
I’ve never really liked custom themes (they always throw me off) and this version is no exception. I really wish the premium tracks came with the default theme. The way it’s like on 2 player.
Get that fixed and it’ll be perfect!

The 16x button should be higher up so you don’t accidentally tap it.
And there shouldn’t be immunity during 16x because people can easily get high scores without actually FCing a song.

I have an idea to purchase single songs! ^^ What Tapulous could do is convert 99c increments into tap track vouchers. Every 99c = 2 tap track vouchers on your account. So you could go in and get 1 song from One Republic for 1 voucher and another song from Snow Patrol for your other voucher! Sounds great, but probably a lot of work for Tapulous.

I’m loving TTR3, and the only song I miss from TTR2 is Panic Switch, so I’m not upset at the lack of an import.
One problem though, No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age has no track when you play it on expert. I think this issue may be widespread because everyone on the leaderboard has a score of 0.

I am lovin’ this!! I’ve experienced some of the issues others have had, but I’ve seen a lot of fixed already. I have no doubt that everything else is in the process of tweaking. Keep up the excellent job. My iPod touch would only be worth half as much w/o Tapulous.

Hm I agree with a similar post above somewhere about some of the paid songs being too easy.
I downloaded Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, and Dance, Dance [the fall out boy track pack] and it’s too easy. it feels more like hard mode. same with move along. the only genuine extreme song i download was when i download the coldplay 2 pack trackpack. viva la vida was good [but thats because it was from tap tap coldplay]
the the paid songs on extreme mode are too easy so far..

Rockband was announced for the iPhone. Threat or not, Tapulous? (I think Tap Tap Revenge 3 would beat a Rockband iPhone version by a far margin. They’ll charge $10 for the app, most likely…We should send the people complaining about TTR3 being $1 to complain about Rockband’s price!
I can’t praise this game enough. I find myself playing it under my desk in World History AP! (By the way, I was downloading the Coldplay tracks and decided to play The Beatles Rockband. After a song, I go look for my iPod and I can’t find it! It was either jealous of Beatles Rockband and left me, I misplaced it, or a ninja took it! I’m still looking for it! xD)

hey guys at tapulous, for the king of the hill achievement, do you have to beat EXACTLY 5 people or at least 5 people ranked higher than you?
i’m level 13 and just came in 1st in a chatroom with about 40 people [it was 42 when i went in] it was hip hop star. right now it has 36. i took several snapshots of it.
it shows me at the top in 1st place and i made sure to snapshot at least 5 other players i finished ahead of.
what do i do about this? since i know you’re having problems with the achievements?
can anyone at tapulous help me out?

This game is amazing and insanely addicting. Like other people have been saying though, it would be nice if the free songs that have been downloaded would disappear from the list like they did in TTR2. Also, I think I keep getting half the amount of coins i should be after gaining a level or completing an achievement. It will say +5000 coins, but when I check it only seems to be half that. Besides those things I really like the game.

hey tapulous, i noticed that the achievements are up and running again :/
i left a few comments earlier regarding the achievements..
i’ve been level 10 for a while now [level 14]
and since the achievements just came back up i got them all in one mass amount just now when i reached level 14.
[i did streaker III yesterday and it says the 5 people who did it, did it 1 hour ago]
so what now? :[
[for the achievement i did it still says 0/5, so can i get credit for that? i have proof if you need it.]

Well, I left a negative review on iTunes (seriously though… you delay it by two weeks and still have glitches that make the game very hard to play?), but I must say I think I might recant that. The paid content is still one of the most evil things ever, but the game is still FUN-even if it looks a little cartoony.
What I STILL want to see is the ability to import songs from my library-unless, of course, they’re already available on the Tap Tap Store-and be able to choose to either manually program the track or have some algorithm do it for me.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that we can’t buy individual songs.
I cannot believe that Bluetooth multiplayer isn’t ALREADY implemented.
Actually, I like the 2-player theme better than the one-player…
The clip of Tap Tap DomiNATION you hear at the start is cool, but it gets annoying-an option to turn it off would be nice.
I don’t really get the whole “Social” thing either-it just seems to commercial. Matter of fact, the whole GAME does-which is why I still like TTR2 better.
Besides that (I know, that’s ALL I had to say?!
), the game’s fun. Good job, Tapulous. Now I gotta go rewrite that review…

The only problems I’ve seen I told Ed about, it’s best not to talk about these on the blog so of you want let me know if I need to e-mail you. One I can Tell you about is in the news feed it takes 20 minutes to update after someone sends you a challenge! For me I got a push notification(those are working fine) and when to the app but I couldn’t play it because the link hadn’t pops up in my news feed. Hope this is fixed soon…oh and LOVE the avitars, check out my Star Trek themed avitar! (yes I figured out how to do it, and could you please add turtle necks?)

Could you please consider dividing the recently added list in the Tap Tap Store into a ‘Recently Added Free’ and ‘Recently Added Paid’?
It would make it easier to get the new free music, and personally I would find it easier to get the purchasable tracks that way.
Otherwise great work with the game, hopefully you will be bringing out some more music that I like, as a lot of the paid tracks at the moment are not my type of music.

OMG I was soo stoked when this came out and I keep finding more things to get excited about. First, thank you so much for adding Snowpatrol. Amazing!! I think y’all should let people add points from TTR2 continously, though because that could half-way solve the problem of not being able to import TTR2 songs. If that happened, then I would care less about paying for songs. Also, you should be able to buy two tracks for 99 cents from different artists. You could do this buy having a shopping cart and adding songs to that cart and getting a final price when your done buying. My biggest problem with TTR in general is that you can’t get points offline. I have an iTouch and I do most my playing in the car or at school when the teacher gets boring. I should have way more points than I do now but it doesn’t track offline. Is there anyway this could change? This is definitely the best game in the world and deserves to stay at #1 forever!!!!!

I found a glitch on “Move Along” by AAR. After I completed the song, I got 0 coins and no EXP. Maybe it has something to do with the Shake+Arrow note?

More achievement problems (and questions):
* Tap Tap I does not work, I got 100% on that level, but still didn’t get the achievement.
* Team Tapper – I am a subscriber, but haven’t gotten the achievement. (using the same e-mail for the reporter and the game of course)
* Qualified to serve – Do I have to log out (in the advanced options) for this? Do I log back in by saving my e-mail in regular options?
* Friendly Fire – does friends from TTR2 not count?
* Fanboy – doesn’t premium editions bought before the release of TTR3 count?

A few strange things happening here. When playing online a few moments ago I got the “played for 7 days in a row” achievement and maybe half an hour later, after playing four songs or so, I got the “14 days in a row” achievement.
The coin system is not working at all for me. I get all those achievements but it seems the only coins that get really added to the total are the coins you get for songs. I’m level 23 and bought only a few clothes but I’m still only at around 135,000. Looking at the top people in the charts I should have lots more or at least should have a chance to buy a guitar. the points that got imported from TTR2 didn’t make it into my total as well. No change. When trying it again the app tells me that I already imported them.
Apart from that there’s been appearing women’s wear like stockings, wings etc that I definitely didn’t buy. Well I wouldn’t even be able to.
Something wrong with my account? Doesn’t seem to happen to all users.

i dont know what appens to me. i have a jailbroken ipod touch 2g. i bought the app and when i try to download a paid song it never loads. i click on purchase this track pack and it keeps loading all the time. its not my conection because y can download free songs

hi! thx for the great game.
just one thind i don’t like: if i download a track and i go to the track store again. i can click the same track again and then a message will pop up to play the track. well, this is all good, but it would be great if you added some sign so i can see which tracks i’ve already loaded. like in tt2 where the song wont show up in the list afer downloading it.
second thing: when i batch download all easy tracks, it downloads every track. even those i’ve already downloaded before.

The game is great, although I would like to be able to down load all the free songs at once. Also, the avatars should be a bit more detailed. I’d like to see better graphics in the store, so that you know exactly what the items look like. They’re pretty pixelated right now.

On some songs that I downloaded into TTR3 from TTR Coldplay and even some free songs that I downloaded, it counted notes as a miss even though I hit them. It gave me the points for it buy it cut my x8 and even my x16! please do some thing I was going to get one hundred percent until it did it on the very last note!
Also the last three notes on “sugar, were goin down” have a lag time on them. What should I do?

Please please please tapulous fix the online play , it lags like crazy even with only 2 or 3 people in the room it makes online unplayable I’m level 17 an can FC most hard/extreme songs yet when I play online I struggle to even pop a 4x combo together

I just bought TT3 in the apps store then install via iTunes. I’m having a problem with my TT3 on my Iphone 3gs 3.0 software update. When I open the game, I can only see TapTap Revenge 3 on top of the screen then that’s it…please email me the solution. thank you

I can’t even play the game, let alone do any challanges whatsoever! What happens is:
-I open the app
-it comes up with the “choose an avatar” screen, and then a problem comes up saying something like the gender is wrong or whatever when it isn’t! Can someone please help me with this problem? I LOVE TapTap 3 and so do all my friends best iPhone APP!!!
A really great feature would be a ‘battle’ mode where you could connect two iPhones by bluetooth and play against each other on two separate screens as sharing one iphone screen can get a bit cramped and shaky on extreme mode!

Love it but..
If i get an achievement or get a full combo tap tap goes crazy with coins.
It seems to double my coins on the full combo/achievement screen that pops up so i get like 2000 coins for a FC on medium but in the news i get the normal amount of coins.. And 2Player mode doesnt work very well. You cant hit a lot of taps so your streak wont be any higher than 70

Tried new 3.0.1 update today to find that I was only gaining 25% experience on any song I played and it any difficulty mode. Also, although it says I am gaining 25% experience it’s not taking it from the experemce left to my next level.

Is this a bug, or is there some reason why the achievements won’t unlock?

I’m the same as Airy – My avatar is female (as am I) but I can only purchase male items – really frustrating!!
Plus, when I pause the game (on 1 player mode) and then resume, sometimes the music completely stops but the game carries on. Odd.
Hope you can add the resetting avatar thing soon so I can access female items and hair and stuff.

So I’ve been waiting to see if they could fix the resetting and change my avatars skin tone and facial expressions but when I try to reset it doesn’t do anything, is another way to change my skin tone and facial expressions, overall I’m really happy about the game an it’s awesome!!

erm.. i wanted to reset my avatar . Inorder to reset it , should i press the reset button in the avatar column ? will it just reset my avatar or my entire account? will my purchased items still be there ?
