Twinkle Tournament: warm up your cameras for a scavenger hunt! by admin
July 19th, 2008
Our photo-attaching, location-aware, Twitter-posting, social-networking app (better known as Twinkle) went live the other day on the App Store, so we thought we’d have some kind of launch-weekend discount sale.
But, thinking harder on the matter, we found that it’s kinda hard to improve on a price tag of zero dollars, so we came up with a plan where we give you stuff. It’s not really free stuff though, you’ve gotta earn it. Like Halloween candy.
It’s the inaugural Twinkle Scavenger Hunt! It works like this:
- We give you a list of ten items (see below).
- You take creative photos of these ten items with your iPhone.
- Post your photos to Twinkle, along with a pithy nugget of the twinkliest wit you can muster.
- When you’ve got all ten, post an update like this: @TwinkleKing I’m done!
We’re going to check the entries of the first ten people to finish the scavenger hunt, then pick the five most creative and amusing competitors to win their choice of iPhone case or armband from Apple’s online store.
So I guess you wanna know the list of things you’re hunting for, right? OK, I give in. They are…
- Blue sky
- Toothpaste
- A sandwich
- Clapping
- Something scary
- Stuffed animals
- Something historical
- A minivan
- Love
- Beans
There are a few other things to mention before you run off shooting photos:
- Your photos need to have the word “Twinkle” in them somewhere, just to prove you aren’t trawling Google Images for entries. Write it on a piece of paper, write it on the back of your hand, whatever floats your boat.
- You can feel free enlist the help of your friends and followers. We appreciate that it may be hard to find a few things on the list. So, if a friend of yours posts a photo with @YourUserName in front of it, it’ll count towards your entry.
- The photos have to be posted from Twinkle. Don’t just link us to your Flickr stream. No good.
- Competition closes twenty-four hours from now, where “now” is the moment this blog entry is posted (noon PST, Saturday July 19). So that’s noon PST Sunday the competition ends. Don’t delay!
UPDATE: Here’s a tip for iPod touch users. You can take the pictures with your digital camera, then upload them to your iPod, and off you go!
