TTRT300: the Three Hundred Dollar Tap Tap Revenge Tournament by admin

July 12th, 2008

UPDATE 3 (9:45PM SUN): Wow, that was one close tournament. bmh5432 and T rav B, between them, occupy 7 of the top 10 slots on the leaderboard. T rav B scored highest with 153,625 and wins today’s $300 Apple Store gift certificate. bmh5432 gets a $100 Apple Store gift certificate for his extraordinary performance. Shortperson1026 and kalemeow each get a $30 iTunes gift certificate. GDProphetXVII is getting a Flip video camera for making the coolest Tap Tap Revenge video *ever*. No more tournaments for a couple of days – but keep on tapping folks!

UPDATE 2 (3.45PM SUN): Here comes the leaderboard! 5 hours to get yourself on there folks!

UPDATE (3.40PM SUN): WHOA, things got a little heated. Our servers were down for the last hour. We’re back now. No scores from the last hour were recorded on our servers. You would have been unable to log in to your account during that period. If, in response, you tried setting a new nickname for yourself or changed your email, NO WORRIES: we register users based on their device ID, so we can connect your previous and new nick. You can change your nickname and email back at any time.

TTR is storming up the AppStore charts; thanks to everyone who has downloaded and played it so far! We’ve gotten so much wonderful feedback, and there’s already an update in the pipe, so many of the stability issues you’ve reported PLUS the ability to download new tracks will go live in the AppStore just as soon as the update gets the thumbs-up from Apple.

And so, it’s time to start the next TTR Tournament Challenge!

Starting right now (3PM PST) you have 30 hours to submit the highest score you can possibly muster for any song in Tap Tap Revenge, at any difficulty, with shakes on or off. In other words: play TTR, submit score, win prizes. We will post a leaderboard in the game tomorrow morning to let you know how you are doing.

In 30 hours (9PM PST tomorrow) we’ll check the leaderboards and award the highest score a $300 Apple Store gift certificate, with three runners-up winning $30 iTunes gift cards. I’m using the number three a lot, I’ll admit. But since it’s the iPhone 3G’s launch weekend I hope you’ll forgive me.

There’s just one thing you absolutely must do. In order to submit your scores you need to set up your Tapulous profile, which is in the OPTIONS screen. Your profile is tied to the hardware device you register on, so pick a nickname and secure it with a valid email address.

UPDATE: Check out this clip – our favorite YouTube review yet. We will be giving away a special prize to our favorite YouTube review or other TTR video tomorrow. Post your YouTube videos as a reply to our promo video to make sure we don’t miss it.
